About Programme

Biruni University Faculty of Dentistry was established in 2014 in order to educate qualified dentists and to carry out all necessary activities in the protection and treatment of oral health of the community by adhering to the ethical rules at the highest level. In 2018-2019 academic year, Biruni University Faculty of Dentistry (English) has started education, patient treatment and research activities. In our faculty, the curriculum has been arranged in accordance with the National Core Education Program (DUÇEP) and the basic and current requirements of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In the establishment of our curriculum, the European Credit Transfer and Collection System (ECTS) principles developed by the European Union have been carried out, thus by increasing the mobility of students and academicians,it was ensured that education was recognized more easily on an international scale. In cooperation with students, trainers, administrative staff, industry consultants and solution partners, scientific meetings and events, seminars, in-house trainings, and large participatory stakeholder meetings are organized to enhance the curriculum and make a difference, therefore our students are supported in every area they need throughout their education.

The program of Dentistry is a 5-year program consisting of 300 ECTS credits and equivalent to a master's degreeThe program meets the requirements by the 7th level qualifications of the The Turkish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (NQF-HETR). During the first three years of the education, students take basic medical and dentistry courses as well as pre-clinical courses that promote their professional skills. In the fourth year students start to attend clinics and have the opportunity to develop clinical practice and practical experience in the company of experienced faculty members. During the 4th and 5th years in which clinical practise is predominant, dental vocational courses and medical courses are blended with clinical practices. All clinical practices in the Faculty of Dentistry program are planned as an independent course, included in the program, and ECTS values are determined according to the European Credit Transfer and Collection System. As a first in Turkey, in Biruni University Faculty of Dentistry, the English Preparatory School program has been integrated into the dentistry curriculum in accordance with the needs of our department  so that our students gain a language without losing a year. Upon successful completion of the program, the students are awarded the Diploma of DENTISTRY equivalent to the master's degree.

Our students actively perform their internships and clinical applications in clinics equipped with current tools and equipments of contemporary dentistry such as "Volumetric Dental Tomography" and"CAD / CAM Technology" which is a computer assisted dentistry design system. In our Faculty, in addition to Orthodontic Clinics, Periodontology Clinics, Paediatric Dentistry Clinics, Prosthetic Clinics, Restorative Clinics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Clinics, there is also a private surgery room for disabled individuals.

With the awareness of being a member of Biruni University, one of Turkey's leading Health University, a large number of interdisciplinary research activities are conducted in our faculty. Our faculty also offers doctoral studies as a post-graduate training center, as well as continuing vocational training events that enable dentists to renew their postgraduate knowledge and be successful in their professional lives. Numerous international programs are being conducted to benefit students and academic staff at our Faculty in cooperation with the world's leading universities.
